Today, our country is a superpower, but it wasn’t always. We have seen tough trials of natural, political, and socio-economic nature. Our country got its independence from the British in 1776, but since then, it’s been a saga of effort and endurance. We went through the Great Depression, two World Wars, Cold War, and are still stuck with the War on Terror around the globe. But, that is the quality of our nation; we persevere. No matter what the conditions are, international or back home, we always come out victorious and even more determined than we were before.
In a country, where we believe in moral strength and equality of the masses, enlightenment came to the people through art. If you don’t believe me, read up on the old Jewish immigrants of the twentieth century who invented comic strip and comics book superheroes out of graffiti art and street art in the 30’s. The immigrant kids of those times were not only exploring ways to vent out their frustration but also means of earning a livelihood. They were creative and skilled in art, with a rich history, so they did what they did best, and the world met Superman; the first savior of mankind. Then came many other superheroes, such as, Batman, Hulk, Captain America, Spiderman, etc. who are recognized comic figures worldwide and not just within the United States. Their art became the mainstream American art that has lasted for almost a century and still going strong. Except for now it is even much more experimental in a variety of ways. The artistic éclat and complexity of technique is making the American graphic design industry one of the most successful worldwide.
